ACJU agrees to discontinue Maktabs
ACJU agrees to discontinue Maktabs and sign an MoU with Wakfs Board to integrate them under the Muslim Daham Paasals of DMRCA / Wakfs Board
Leaders of ACJU and officials of Wakfs Board and DMRCA have had a zoom meeting today (02.07.2021) to discuss and finalize a draft MoU to integrate Maktabs under the Junior Muslim Daham Paasals of DMRCA/ Wakfs Board.
It is expected that the MOU will be signed early next week.
According to the agreed MOU, all institutes teaching Qur'an will follow a common syllabus and textbooks printed by DMRCA, and teachers will be recruited and monitored by DMRCA under the directions of the Wakfs Board. ACJU had started the Maktab system in 2011 and currently running Maktabs at around 1200 mosques all over the island with 110,000 school going children attend them after school.
ACJU agreed to support the DMRCA and Wakfs Board in all possible ways to make it a successful transformation.
