SAUDI ARABIA TO ALLOW 'IMMUNISED' PILGRIMS IN MECCA

Saudi Arabia will allow people who are immunised against Covid-19 to perform the Umrah pilgrimage starting from the month of Ramadan, the holy fasting month for Muslims.

Only those who have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, have received one dose at least 14 days before performing the pilgrimage or who have previously recovered from the virus will be granted permits.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah added that it would increase Mecca’s Grand Mosque’s operational capacity in adherence with Covid-19 measures and restrictions.

It is still not clear whether this policy would be extended to the annual Hajj pilgrimage later this year.
