The new resolution, titled "Promotion of Reconciliation, Accountability and Human Rights in Sri Lanka" is calling for further advance accountability issue on alleged human rights violations and promote reconciliation in Sri Lanka.

The resolution came after the current government withdrew last year from the previous resolution Sri Lanka co- sponsored to have a plan to investigate war time allegations.
